About us
Askersunds Male Voice Choir was formed in 1907 and over the years has gained a reputation as one of Sweden’s best male voice choirs. There are about 30 of us, split pretty evenly across four groups based on musical range – first tenors, second tenors, first bass and second bass.
See us
There’s nearly always an Askersund Male Voice Choir concert on the horizon to look forward to.
Our shows range from fantastic evenings of rock-and-roll to celebrations of traditional Swedish songs, modern pop classics and more. And of course, our annual Christmas concert is a popular and unforgettable way to start the festivities. You can find out more about forthcoming concerts here (in Swedish), but book your tickets early to avoid missing out!
Join us
Do you sing in the shower or along to the car radio? Or perhaps you used to be in a band or choir, and miss the sense of camaraderie and joy of performing? Or perhaps it’s just time for a change. Time to take up a new, healthy and rewarding interest?
If any of these things sound familiar, then perhaps it’s time to come along and join us. Whatever your reasons you’ll be warmly welcomed, so give it a try! You don’t need any particular musical experience – just a love of music and an interest in being a part of an active, supportive and sociable group.
We meet in Sjöängen, Askersund on Monday evenings from 18:30 – 21:00. We sing, drink a bit of coffee, then we sing a bit more. Our aim is to have fun, practise, and prepare ourselves as best we can for each performance. And just before a concert, we’ll hold an extra rehearsal or two to make sure we’re ready.
Interested? Then come along and see what you think. Feel free to let us know in advance, or ask any questions you might have, by contacting our Choir Chairman Owe Johansson.
